I must be a romantic after all, because every time I see the scene at the train station, I think my heart’s just going to break. Obviously everything about The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is great, but what would it be without Michel Legrand’s soaring music? The jazz great and provider of so many film scores, including those of the most iconic New Wave films turns 79 today, and I’m gonna celebrate by watching this clip about a hundred more times. Or I might switch off to The Young Girls of Rochefort for a while. Who can say?
