Today would have been Buster Keaton’s 116’s birthday, and I’ll take any chance to celebrate the man who has become probably my favorite silent comedian. I love Chaplin, to be sure, as well as Lloyd and other even less-well-remembered names like Harry Langdon and Charley Chase, but Keaton is king. At least at this point in my life.
I happened across this clip of Keaton on the game show What’s My Line sometime in the 1950s – now that’s a time capsule right there. For more Keaton-centric stuff, jump over to Row Three where I’ve got a short piece up with a clip from Steamboat Bill Jr., and then stop by The Kitty Packard Pictorial where Carley is devoting much of the whole month to Project Keaton. I’ll likely be dropping a few more shorts over on Row Three, and maybe here and definitely Google Plus, so keep an eye out for Keaton everywhere!
